Obedience Schedule - Meet The Instructors - Registration Form - Class Fees - Student Photos
Pre-registration for class is required please contact Kathi at
info@hylinehotel.com or call (360) 398-0174 or 739-4686 to register or more information.
Our classes are based on POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT not punishment (old traditional pop and jerk methods). When a correction is needed it is made but not necessarily in the traditional way. Dogs are not stubborn or spiteful, they do not do what they do to make us angry, they do what they do because at some time that behavior has gotten them what they want, who wouldn't try it again?

The PUPPY KINDERGARTEN TRAINING CLASS is designed to educate you on how to best work with your
puppy/small dog. Puppy socialization (not puppy playtime) is worked on as well as the basics sit, down, come and walking on a loose leash.
The BASIC OBEDIENCE TRAINING CLASS (agile/obedience) is designed for the family pet, we focus on basic manners, and basic obedience commands, sit, down, stay and walking nicely on a leash. We will also address any specific issues or problems you are having with your dog. This class may be repeated based on the level of training you wish achieve. The dogs also introduced to one piece of agility equipment each week.
The ADVANCED OBEDIENCE CLASS (when offered) is designed as a continuation of the basic class, longer stays with more distractions, begin off leash work. This class may be repeated as you wish to increase attention through distractions. This class is taught "within" the basic class, while new dog and owner teams are learning the basics the more advanced dogs will be working on longer stays, transition to off leash work and working around distractions.
Classes may be shortened to 45 minutes when there are less than 6 dogs and handlers.
PLEASE NOTE: For the safety and comfort level of all
students and dogs in class, dogs acting in an aggressive manner will be REQUIRED
to take private instruction before continuing in a group class. The fee
paid for the group class will be applied to the private instruction
sessions. If you are not sure about your dog's aggression problems please
contact Kathi Seaman prior to the first night of class.
Please bring your dog to class on a buckle collar with a regular 4' to 6'
leash (not retractable) and be sure to bring plenty of soft cut up treats (string cheese, chicken or turkey dogs or small pieces of moist dog treats work well).
Keep in mind if your dog "LOVES" his treats he will want to work for
them which will make your training much easier. If you are not sure if your equipment is suitable you can call or just bring your equipment to the first class and your instructor will help you with it.
PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Private instruction is available for basic and advanced obedience training as well as behavior modification. Sometimes particular dogs and owners need a little jump start before entering a class, if so, private instruction might be just what you need.
Private instruction is designed to be individualized for a particular dog and
handler, different methods will be used or tried depending on what result is
wanted by the owner.
