Training

There are a variety of training classes offered at Hyline and below are some of the class descriptions. For more information, class schedules, and pricing navigate through the links at left or above in the drop-down menu.

INTRODUCTION TO AGILITY

This class is for dogs and or handlers that are new to agility or the equipment. It doesn’t matter if you want to compete or just have fun with your dog this is the place to start.  Dogs in this class must be easily controlled on leash and should know the sit and down commands.

As with any dog training activity, agility takes time. One should assume that they will be at any given level for several classes before being ready to move up. Please understand it is NOT a reflection on the dog or their handler if they are not given permission to advance as quickly as they think they should. You can always “challenge” a class and if you are ready and their is space in the class you will move up.

BEYOND THE BASICS AGILITY

DOGS MUST HAVE A RELIABLE RECALL and stay with their handler. This class is for dogs that have successfully completed the introduction to agility class and are COMPLETELY comfortable on the equipment. Please note: Dogs that do not stay with their handler WILL NOT be allowed to advance to the upper classes

INTERMEDIATE AGILITY

Prerequisite: must have permission from instructor, dogs must be able to do weaves and the teeter.

ADVANCED AGILITY

Pre-requisite: must have permission from instructor.
This class is for dogs and handlers that are either competing or close to competition ready. Dogs must have solid equipment performance and have a solid wait at the line.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION

Private instruction is available for basic and advanced obedience training as well as behavior modification. Sometimes particular dogs and owners need a little jump start before entering a class, if so, private instruction might be just what you need. Private instruction is designed to be individualized for a particular dog and handler, different methods will be used or tried depending on what result is wanted by the owner.
